dr parkerDr. Josh Parker was born and raised in Baton Rouge and graduated from Central Private High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. While in dental school, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, C. Edmunds Kells Dental Honor Society, received several scholarships and awards for academic excellence, and graduated at the top of his class.

After dental school, Dr. Parker decided to further his education in the field of orthodontics to help change people’s lives by creating beautiful smiles! He completed his three-year orthodontic specialty residency and received a Master’s of Science degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, which was ranked the #1 dental school in the country by U.S. News. His graduate research was on lingual orthodontics (braces behind your teeth) and worked closely with Drs. Salome and Comella who together have treated thousands of patients with lingual orthodontic appliances. Dr. Parker was recently chosen to present his graduate research project at OrthoVOICE 2014, an Orthodontic International Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas.

abo logoTo demonstrate his desire to provide the absolute highest level of patient care, Dr. Parker has voluntarily completed hundreds of additional hours of preparation to become a Board Certified Orthodontist.  Only 1 in 3 orthodontists is certified. Achieving board certification is the last step in a long and intensive educational experience to ultimately provide excellent patient care.

Orthodontics is more than just straightening teeth. It takes extensive knowledge of jaw growth development, facial symmetry and more to perfect a smile. There’s a reason orthodontists must go through additional years of schooling after receiving their dental degree.  Board certification goes a step further, demonstrating an orthodontist’s passion and dedication to the field.

Outside the office, Dr. Parker enjoys golfing, running, and cheering for the LSU Tigers with his wife, Dr. Erin Maturin. Dr. Parker and Dr. Erin became a family of 3 when Jackson Parker was born in June 2017. Dr. Parker is certain that Jackson’s first word will be “braces” and he will take over the practice in 2046. However, Dr. Erin is hoping his first word will be “Mom” and that he starts sleeping through the night soon.

Dr. Parker looks forward to meeting you and your family at your next visit.
